Motorhome Smog Information

Motorhome Owners: The California Clean Truck Check Emissions Testing begins January 1st, 2025. Are you Ready?

In recent months, there has been a surge in confusion and frustration among California motorhome owners receiving notices from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). We have been contacted by numerous owners who have received SB210 notices, which allege non-compliance with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations, leading to blocked vehicle registrations. However, this issue is almost always related to vehicles needing to be registered with CARB. Below are the steps to stay compliant with current CARB regulations.

Step 1: Register your vehicle with CARB, and you must pay the 2023 and 2024 compliance fees.

Need help?

Option 1: We handle the registration process and ensure fees are paid on time.

Option 2: We can provide guidance so you can manage it yourself.

Step 2: Schedule Your Test We come to where your vehicle is located: Our CARB-credentialed testers will administer the required test wherever your motorhome is located.

·We handle the paperwork: Test results are sent directly to CARB to keep you in compliance.

·Avoid DMV issues: Certified testing and registration will prevent DMV holds.

Important Deadlines:

·2024: DMV will require Clean Truck Check registration and payment of fees for renewal.

·2025: Tests will be required to maintain compliance

All vehicles must be reported in the Clean Truck Check Vehicle Inspection System (CTC-VIS) at https://cleantruckcheck.arb.ca.gov. Non-CA registered motorhomes are not subject to Clean Truck Check.

Emissions compliance testing is required once per year and can begin 90 days before the registration expiration date. A CARB credentialed tester must administer the submission of a passing Clean Truck Check emissions compliance test. We are committed to ensuring you stay compliant with CARB and the DMV.
